What is Silverlight?
Microsoft Silverlight is a programmable web browser plugin that enables features such as animation, vector graphics and audio-video playback that characterize rich internet applications. Silverlight competes with technologies such as Adobe Flash, SVG, Adobe Flex, Adobe Shockwave, JavaFX, Curl and JavaScript. Silverlight is compatible with multiple web browsers on Windows and Mac OS X.
Silverlight was developed under the codename Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere (WPF/E).
Version 2.0 of Silverlight is expected to be released next week. [via Zdnet].
