3+ Visual Heatmaps for website analysis
A Visual Heatmap provides good insight into the behaviour of visitors on your website. Good visual heatmap software can let you know which regions of your page visitors click on.
This is useful for the following reasons:
- Improve Ad Revenues by ensuring proper placement of ads on the page.
- Improving the theme/layout of the page to root out regions which visitors do not seem to be interested in.
Basically, identify regions for improvements on your website. The aim of such tools is not to help you clutter your page with ads, but while making the page visually appealing, ensuring that you improve on your ad revenues.
There are two tools that I am aware of at the time of writing this post — CrazyEgg and ClickHeat. (There are a few others beyond these two captured below!)
CrazzyEgg is an outstanding piece of software, buts its not free. It does cost you money starting at $9/month going all the way up to $99/month.
ClickHeat on the other hand is free! Its does not have an interface that is as visually apealling as CrazzyEgg, but does a decent job in ensuring that you know the regions of the page where visitors click.
Other Notable Entries:
ClickTale does not generate visual heatmaps, but movies capturing visitor movements on your website, including clicks! It is a hosted service and optimized to ensure minimal bandwidth consumption. Upto 100 recordings is provided for free.
If you are not using any of the above services yet, its high time you started to.
