Do you Sandboxie your application installations?

Sandboxie runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer. It is a basic virtual environment (sandbox) in which you can install applications. It is an ideal testing ground to evaluate new software. At the click of a button, the installation changes done by the new application gets wiped clean. This is perfect to evaluate freeware and shareware applications without comprising on your basic Windows operating system.

The following comment on their website summarizes Sandboxie quite well:

Tired of dealing with rogue software, spyware and malware?
Spent too many hours removing unsolicited software?
Worried about clicking unfamiliar Web links?

Sandboxie is your answer to the above.

The installer is a little more than 400KB in size. Yes! That small. You can read independent reviews of Sandboxie at BetaNews.

Any Alternatives?

Yes! There is one that I am aware of. Its called Altiris SVS (from Symantec). I’ll cover this in a separate review.

Download Sandboxie.
