Go-OO: An alternative to an alternative!
We all came to know OpenOffice as a great alternative to Microsoft Office. An alternative that not only matched it feature to feature reasonably well but was completely free.
There is an alternative to this alternative! Go-OO is a fork from OpenOffice that strives to reduce the bulkiness of OpenOffice. It has a UI that is much easier to use and is less cluttered. It can handle DOCX, XLSX and PPTX formats (from the Office 2007 family).
Some additional/improved features over OpenOffice includes support for WordPerfect graphics, EMF rendering, besides better support for VBA, Mono and the Chinese language.
If you are looking for a light weight office suite, Go-OO would be a better choice than OpenOffice. Be prepared to uninstall OpenOffice before you can install Go-OO.
Go-OO is available for Windows and Linux.
